Sankar Chakraborti (born November 15, 1970) is the Chief Executive Officer of SMERA Ratings Limited, a credit rating agency, accredited by Reserve Bank of India,〔http://www.rbi.org.in/scripts/NotificationUser.aspx?Id=7562&Mode=0〕 Securities & Exchange Board of India,〔http://www.sebi.gov.in/cms/sebi_data/docfiles/21162_t.html〕 and Ministry of MSME (GoI). Chakraborti's father was an officer with Indian Railways and his mother is a retired school teacher. The family was based in Asansol, an industrial town in West Bengal. Chakraborti attended Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia, a boarding school, where he pursued science. He graduated and then obtained an MBA from Centre for Management Studies, BU, West Bengal.
